One of my friends asked me if i was married or had kids and i told them i didnapos;t believe in marriage and they said that when i find the right person i might change my mind...and i agreed but this is how i feel about all that.

"The right person" to me is a little ignorant. I took a psych class and it said something that made me think. When you find someone that you think is the right person it is probably only someone that is the right person within five miles of where you live or work. And itapos;s true, there are billions of people out there and there is no way that everyone is different, I am sure there is someone else out there almost exactly the same in personality or in looks. So there really are "plenty of fish in the sea."

On top of that I believe that people get married too soon. I think that people should have a common law marriage before they actually get married. If you are planning on spending the rest of your life with them, then what is the rush? Spend seven or so years together first and then decide if that is what you want. If so-then I believe in marriage, but I think people do it too much. I think that people get married (subconsciously) for the wrong reasons a lot of the time. Because they are lonely, they think they are that age to be getting married, all of their friends or getting married, or because they have been with that person for a while and they think they need to take "the next step" also we live in a society that makes us believe that we need to be in a relationship to be happy and that being single is bad and it is simply not true. I am a very happy and optimistic person and I am not spending my days looking for a relationship. I am perfectly happy living the life that I am living.

And whatapos;s worse is that the divorce rate is fifty percent of people who get married and it is ignorant to think that love will get you through the rest of your life.

Plus I hate the fact that gay marriage isnapos;t legal in every state.

Even if I end up changing my mind about all this marriage stuff, if I end up with a woman I wonapos;t be able to marry her simply because the govapos;t says marriage is a privilege not a right.
